Add "Electronically signed by <provider name> <date> <time>" to signed-off lab results, and make this print when lab results are printed
The provider name who saw the result, and the date and time when they saw it, should be associated with each lab result in the EMR, and if the lab result is printed, it should show on the printed version. The provider (user),date and time would come from when the provider presses the button "Mark as Viewed".
Expected Result: Show provider name, date and time the provider pressed the Mark as Seen button for each lab result marked as seen.
Actual Result: Onscreen and printed versions of the lab results are appended by the date time and provider who marked the results as seen.
Impact on Workflow: None - adds no extra work to provider workflow, but adds (potentially) very important information to lab results, proving when each lab result was seen by the provider.

Health plans and IPA's do not want a printout that says the doctor "viewed" something. They REQUIRE a provider signature on a lab or x-ray. I know our referrals are denied when we use the data you suggested from the 01-10-14 comment. It's not good enough. When is this idea going to be added to the system? Was it really setup for planning in 2014 and it still hasn't been added? I recently spoke to a Micro rep. who told me the only option is to print the lab, have the provider physically sign it, and then scan it back into EMR. This is an extremely ineffective work flow. I'd permanently give up 5 votes to make this happen. A doctor asked me why he is marking the labs as viewed in EMR if he has to physically sign them anyway? It's double work for the provider and the staff that assist in the process.
Expected result: The provider needs a button that will put their signature, date and time on ANY document in EMR. The document must show the signature, date and time when it's viewed or printed. I don't think I can emphasize how much this feature would mean to your users.

Currently the audit data is stored within the change history of the result. A user can view and print this data by right clicking on the result and selecting change history.
