Behavioral Health Questionnaire Section Shouldn't Need Abbreviation
When creating a new Behavioral Health Questionnaire and creating a new "Section", you have the option of entering in a "Section Abbreviation". However, if you choose not to use an abbreviation, once the questionnaire is loaded within a patient's chart, these section headers do not appear. If a "Section Abbreviation" IS entered on the section header, the section headers appear as would be expected (It displays both the "Section Name" and "Section Abbreviation" fields).
HSMS support states that this would be a feature request for the section headers to display without an abbreviation entered. Nowhere is the user prompted that this behavior will occur if the abbreviation is left blank. We propose one of the following:
1) Display these section headers regardless of the abbreviation being entered. There doesn't seem to be any reason (that we can tell) that these shouldn't display anyways.
2) Prevent the new section from being saved if there is no abbreviation entered.
3) At least warn the user that "If there is no value entered into the 'section abbreviation' field, none of the header information will be viewable when the questionnaire is applied to a patient".
In addition, after the section is saved, it does not appear that you can modify the section information. So, if a user saves the section and then finds out (as we did) that the header won't display, there is no way in the application to modify this information without updating the tables directly within SQL. The only thing available within the application is to create a new section with the correct abbreviation.
