Add advanced reporting and rule triggers/activation for the Document Manager
The Document Manger, or place where all your scans go : ) ....needs to have a reporting feature in administration that can pull patients with empty or "non-empty" folders.
Implementation - Create reporting that would allow you to pull patient lists based on empty or "non-empty" folders in the document manager. Example, Bill at Dr. Cool's pulls a report that gives him all the patients that have (or do not have) a file in "dynamic studies" or "refused consent" or whatever generic folder or custom folder that exists in the document manager.
Rule Manager - Allow the user to create a trigger or activation condition that is based on empty or "non empty" files in the document manager.
Real world example - Sally at the front desks forgets to scan the intake forms in the EMR on Mr. Smith's chart. However, as soon as the back office takes some action like an order, doctor ERX prescribed, encounter is opened, pt. vitals entered, etc....a pop up appears that says "intake folder is empty for active patient". That pop up would appear based on the new rule you were allowed to create. Now Sally will be notified and Mr. Smith’s intake forms will be scanned in. Yay!
This could apply to so many scenarios with the document manager.
As much as we all want to be paperless, I think MicroMD would be hard pressed to find any practice that doesn’t have patients write on some sort of paper that is scanned into EMR. We need more rules and reporting to help us make sure those paper documents are present in EMR and filed where we need them.
